All interviews were read through a number of times to get an overview of the material.

Aspects were collected from the texts (an aspect describes critical qualities of the phenomenon, what it is about and how this is shaped).

  1. *During the phenomenographic analysis the following question was kept in mind: "What does this tell me about how this GP manages patients who present with symptoms of infectious diseases?" Additionally, to focus on antibiotic prescribing, another question was kept in mind: "What does this tell me about how this GP prescribes antibiotics?"
